Project Type: Logo Redesign Timeline: April - May 2021

Rebranding Marina Supermarket, located in San Francisco’s Marina District.

Project Goals:
Create a new visual identity for Marina Supermarket, including a brandmark logo, use of typography and color, a brand guideline sheet, and examples of the brand in use. Marina Supermarket would benefit from re-designing its visual identity by setting itself apart from its competition, attracting more customers from the surrounding area, and having a brand its customers would be happy to support and represent.

Existing Identity:
Marina Supermarket’s existing brand is quite inviting. However, it’s evident that their logo requires a refresh. The intricate line work within the fruit and vegetable illustrations, while intriguing, can become overly complex for effective logo use. Given the prominent location of the store within the iconic Marina District of San Francisco, it seems fitting that the brand should incorporate local imagery into its logo, a step that is currently missing from their branding.

Sketch Selection:
The iterative design process involved sketching many different logo concepts, a meticulous journey of trial and error. The final selection of this sailboat symbol represents the culmination of a thorough exploration.
